Defiance was a science-fiction television show on Syfy that ran from 2013 to 2015. The concept was based on a video game by Trion Worlds that debuted at the same time as the show, with the original idea being some story would be in the game, and some would be in the show. The basic plot: Aliens come to Earth as refugees, but an accident aboard a spaceship triggers a 40 year interspecies war that decimates the planet. Defiance takes place after the war has ended, and humans and aliens have decided to live together in peace. The show featured a four full alien conlangs and one sketch created by David J. Peterson.
