Not to be confused with the Common of Warcraft: The Beginning.

The Common Tongue, also simply known as Common, is a language spoken across the continent of Westeros in the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire. In both the books and TV series, the language is exclusively rendered as English, however, it would ostensibly not actually be identical to in-universe. The actual language is descended from the Andal language, which the Andals brought over from Essos with them during their invasion of Westeros.
