Common Tongue

The Common Tongue, also simply known as Common, is a language spoken across the continent of Westeros in the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire. In both the books and TV series, the language is exclusively rendered as English; however, in-universe, it would ostensibly not actually be identical to English. The actual language is descended from the Andal language, which the Andals brought over from Essos with them during their invasion of Westeros.
