Etymology
From emagon.
Suffix
-emagon
- Used to form factitive verbs from adjectives, nouns and other verbs, corresponding to English suffixes such as -en and -ify, meaning approximately "to make something or someone X" or "to give the quality of X".
Derived Terms
Notes
- -magon is (sometimes) used with class II adjectives, where the final consonant of the root assimilates to produce a geminate mm i.e. -mmagon.
- -emagon is used otherwise (the e sometimes coalesces with a preceding vowel, producing a different quality vowel).
