Övüsi is an a priori language created by David Peterson for the elves from the Netflix film Bright. The full name of the language is Övüsi Kieru, meaning "the Elvish Tongue." The language has undergone many changes over the centuries, but some ancient words have been preserved in their original form in the context of magic use. The language has few borrowings, due to the elves' insular nature. Despite the presence of front rounded vowels and back unrounded vowels, Övüsi has no vowel harmony.
While I intended for Castithan to be a language that was spoken very quickly, the result was a failure, resulting in rapid fire bursts punctuated by numerous halting pauses. In Övüsi, I tried to correct the mistakes I made with Castithan and create a truly speedy language. I believe I was quite successful this time around.
