Etymology
From -tys with rhotacism of the t.
Suffix
-rys
- Used to form nouns describing people in general, and agent nouns in particular, from various roots, sometimes corresponding to English suffixes such as -er and -or; used after some vowel-final stems.
- arghugon (“to hunt”) → arghurys (“hunter”)
