The Omec are a group of aliens from the Syfy series Defiance. They speak the Kinuk'aaz language and have purple skin. The name was derived from the Olmec, from which the "l" was dropped. David J. Peterson never thought that was a great idea (it came from Trion, not Syfy). Omec is also the name of their home planet in the Votanis Solar System.
