Zemeni is a language created by David and Jessie Peterson for the Netflix series Shadow and Bone, an adaptation of the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. It is spoken in Novyi Zem, a nation inspired by Sub-Saharan Africa and North America. The original words and phrases coined by Bardugo seem to be largely a priori, not drawing from any one natural language, as is the extended language created by the Petersons.
