(Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)

Usage

This template is used to request a source for doubtful etymologies in ===Etymology=== sections.

To use this template:

  1. Add {{rfv-etym|xx}} to an entry. The language code is required to ensure that it goes to the correct subpage of Project:Etymology scriptorium.
  2. Start a new discussion on Project:Etymology scriptorium, using the (+).

If the request could do with attention from someone versed in a particular field, add the parameter topic=[topic]; this will add the page (automatically) to Category:Entries needing topical attention and (eventually, manually) to the list at Project:Entries needing topical attention.

Parameters

|1=
The language code of the term whose etymology needs verification. See Project:List of languages.
|fragment=, |section=
The section of Project:Etymology scriptorium to link to; this goes into the URL, after the pound sign. Defaults to the page name.
|sort=
The sort key for the page; rarely needs to be specified.
|nocat=1
Disable categorization of this page.
|topic=
If given, add this page to Category:Entries needing topical attention and (eventually, manually) to the list at Project:Entries needing topical attention. Also add the specified param value to a CSS span id contained in the request message.

This template adds the page to the following categories (where LANG is the language whose code is specified using |1=):
