Documentation for Template:Hv-IPA. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template generates automatic IPA transcription for High Valyrian entries. It uses Module:hv-pronunc as its back end.

Usage

|1=

Term used in the calculations. Most of the time the page name is used but there are a couple respelling rules mainly for stress of loanwords. Use ́◌ (acute accent) to place the stress in a syllable whose nucleus is a short vowel. Use ̀◌ (grave accent) instead if the vowel is long—i.e. if it already has a macron.

Examples

Default (Classical)

{{hv-IPA|dāria}}, dāria “queen”

(Classical) IPA(key): /ˈdaːria/

{{hv-IPA|ilzigon}}, ilzigon “to throw”

(Classical) IPA(key): /ˈilziɡon/

With post-classical pronunciation

{{hv-IPA|vasrie}}, vasrie “thin”

(Classical) IPA(key): /ˈvasrie/
(Post-Classical) IPA(key): /ˈvaɟe/

{{hv-IPA|iosrūlirion}}, iosrūlirion “autumn”

(Classical) IPA(key): /iosˈruːlirion/
(Post-Classical) IPA(key): /ioˈɟuːlirion/

Manual stress

{{hv-IPA|Dóthraki}}, Dothraki

(Classical) IPA(key): /ˈdoθraki/

{{hv-IPA|khálēsi}}, khalēsi “Dothraki queen”

(Classical) IPA(key): /ˈxaleːsi/
