Hen Linge

Etymology

From an invisible proto-language
The etymology of this word comes from an invisible proto-language. If you're confident you know the etymology, feel free to add it, but reader beware should the etymology be added by someone other than the creator of the language!

Source

Coined by Andrzej Sapkowski in the book Sword of Destiny.

Source Spelling

glaeddyv

Pronunciation

IPA(key): /ˈɡledɨf/

Orthographic Form

glaeddyv

Noun

gleidyf (class 3 singular, plural gleidyvana)

  1. sword

Creation and Usage Notes

The pronunciation comes from Sapkowski. There are other words he created that are supposed to be pronounced with [v] at the end of the word, but this one evidently ends with [f], despite the spelling.
