Documentation for Template:Shiv-noun-decl. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

In order to enter a new Shiväisith noun, you'll need to use the following code:

{{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=|stem=|front=|ant=|palfin=|vfin=|cfin=|poss=}}

After each = sign you need to enter some information. This is the information you should enter:

  1. root= is the root of the noun, or its nominative singular form in full. For words like jöh, iotsi, and sampo, the roots are jöh, iotsi, and sampo, respectively.
  2. stem= is the root minus its final vowel. If the word has no final vowel, please leave this blank! Using our sample words above, the stems are blank, iots, and samp, respectively.
  3. front= is whether this word takes front vowel harmony or not. If it does, enter 1. If it doesn't, leave this blank. If the last vowel of the root is y, ö, or ä, enter 1. If the last vowel of the root is u, o, or a, leave it blank. If the last vowel of the root is i or e, it may be either fronted or not. If a previous vowel is any of the above six, that will determine its status. If they're all i or e, it is likely fronted, but it may be back. Please let Djp (talk) handle these.
  4. ant= is whether the word contains palatal fricatives or not. If the word has sh anywhere in it (and it is not a compound), put a 1 for this; otherwise leave it blank. Please note that the sequences dj and tj will also trigger palatal harmony, and so if the word contains those, please also enter 1 here.
  5. palfin= is whether or not the last consonant of the noun (even if the word ends in a vowel!) is a palatal. If it is, enter 1. If not, leave this blank.
  6. vfin= is where you write the last vowel of the world iff the word ends with a vowel. If the word ends with a consonant, leave this blank.
  7. cfin= is for if the word ends with a consonant. On occasion, if the word ends with a consonant, its first person singular possessive form will be different if the word ends in a particular type of consonant.
  8. poss= is the stem used for variant first person singular possessive forms.

If you do all that, then a nice, pretty declension table will appear on your page! Here's an example of a couple filled out codes to refer to as examples:

  1. athu: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=athu|stem=ath|front=|ant=|palfin=|vfin=u}}
  2. djesh: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=djesh|stem=|front=1|ant=1|palfin=1|vfin=|cfin=sh}}
  3. iotsi: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=iotsi|stem=iots|front=|ant=|palfin=|vfin=i}}
  4. rash: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=rash|stem=|front=|ant=|palfin=1|vfin=|cfin=sh}}
  5. sampo: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=sampo|stem=samp|front=|ant=|palfin=|vfin=o}}
  6. rouh: {{Template:shiv-noun-decl|root=rouh|stem=|front=|ant=|palfin=|vfin=|cfin=k|poss=rouk}}
