The Ghiscari language was spoken in the city of Ghis and the Ghiscari Empire, in the south of Essos, on the shores of Slaver's Bay. After Valyria's conquest of Ghis, it was supplanted by High, and later Low, Valyrian. Loanwords from Ghiscari have entered into those Valyrian varieties, notably Astapori Valyrian and Meereenese Valyrian.
