Dothraki

Etymology

From Proto-Plains apaʒ (hot).

Pronunciation

IPA(key): /aˈfaʒ/

Adjective

afazh (comparative asafazhan, superlative asafazhanaz, negative osafazh, contrastive osafazhan, sublative asafazhanoz)

  1. hot
  2. cooked, roasted, prepared (with respect to food)

Creation and Usage Notes

Often I'm asked how I come up with words. If it's a bare root and isn't derived, it goes about like this. I decided I wanted a root that had to do with heat in Dothraki. "What would be good?" I thought. "Afazh!" That was it. There was nothing more or less to it. It took about as much time to create as it took to read.
