High Valyrian

Etymology

Possibly from darys. Uncertain development, however, the ending -ilaros seems to relate to the active future participle. This may reflect a meaning "someone who is to rule", and being of solar gender it is neither masculine nor feminine, hence why it can be used for both.

Pronunciation

(Classical) IPA(key): /daːriˈlaros/

Noun

dārilaros (second declension solar, plural dārilarossa)

  1. heir to the throne.
  2. crown prince, crown princess.
