Creation and Usage Notes
The word derives from the basis of Ravkan currency. The bill was referred to as a "little bar", as if it was a little bar of gold, and the name stuck.
Couple of sidenotes. First, the plural was incorrectly listed as vlachki on several documents I shared with production. This was all stuff we were doing before the first episode even aired, so I beg you to forgive me for the error. The plural is indeed vlachkai as one would expect. Second, Leigh hated this word. I pitched to her, and her exact words were, "I don't love it". lol I was willing to dump it at that point, but she suggested passing it on to productio, to see if they might come up with something else. What I knew at the time is if you pass something like that on to production it immediately becomes canon—and it did. My sincere apologies, Leigh. :( I hope you like the etymology, at least. If it were just me I would've dumped it and tried to come up with soemthing you liked. Now we're stuck with it. -David J. Peterson 15:31, 6 May 2024 (PDT) |
