High Valyrian

Pronunciation

(Classical) IPA(key): /ɡeːˈlyːri/

Noun

gēlȳri

  1. Nonstandard form of gēlȳndi.
Gēlȳri[1] aōt tepagon jaelas, hegnīr aōhys rūs ipradagon kostos.
He only wants to give you money, so your baby can eat.
-Varys (Game of Thrones, Episode 601)

Notes

  1. The form gēlȳri here indicates that the speaker is erroneously assuming the base form to be gēlio instead of the actual form, gēlion. This is a mistake that Valyrian speakers in general might make, but which is a bit surprising for Varys.
